Paul R. Dickinson, CPA

Paul is our resident Certified Public Accountant.  He handles many of the more complicated tax resolution projects that come our way and has a stellar track record in this area.  He also enjoys doing business valuations, business plans, and some of the more creative and complex aspects of the accounting world.

My Story

Paul graduated with a BA in Chemistry from Saint Louis University (1969).  Following university, Paul became a Lieutenant in the United States Army (1969-1972). Shortly after, in 1973, he graduated with an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance with honors and distinctions.   In 1974, he was recruited by the First National Bank of Chicago, which was then followed by 5 years with public accounting firm, Grant Thornton.  Afterwards, he left the accounting firm to work for TMG, Inc. and also worked in international business with Beatrice Foods, Inc., primarily handling mergers and acquisitions in addition to financial management.

For most of the 80s and 90s, Paul acted as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of HR Industries, Inc. - one of the 25 largest manufacturers of printed circuit boards and backplanes.  During his tenure, sales increased from $10 million to $30 million and he was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by INC. Magazine.  In 1998, Paul became Director of Manufacturing of Peavey Electronics, a $250 million private company manufacturing musical instruments, sounds systems, and wooden enclosures and cabinets in 8 plants (both domestically and internationally).  In 1999, however, Paul made a transition to American Management Services in Boston, MA as Senior Group Manager, where they provided management services to improve marketing, finance, and operations for privately-owned middle market companies.  During this time, Paul became one of American Airline's top world travelers due to the amount of travel required for his job.

Finally, in 2001, in an effort to slow down with his family, Paul and his wife, Daphne, settled in Birmingham, AL where they started Dickinson and Company CPA's and Profitability Squared, Inc.  He is also a Registered Representative and Registered Investment Advisor with Primerica.  In addition to his many accolades, Paul is fluent in Spanish and can dabble in Italian, Portuguese, and French.  He is a Life Hall of Fame member of the Entrepreneurial Institute and was a past member of the Hispanic National CEO Business Roundtable.  He currently maintains connections with the AICPA, as well as HICA here in Alabama.
